Alyssa
Hi! My name is Alyssa and I am an undergraduate student at the University of Southern California studying Cognitive Science and double minoring in the Dynamics of Early Childhood and Public Relations.
I am passionate about working with and teaching young children. I have volunteered in elementary school, K-5, classrooms since I was in eighth grade, assisting in math, reading and writing. Since then, I have volunteered with Teach For Los Angeles, an on-campus tutoring club at USC that provides weekend tutoring services in reading and math for children K-12. I am also a nanny for two elementary and middle school girls.
I have constructed, revised, and adapted elementary curriculums in my minor course classes, so I know how to teach to the child’s needs, while simultaneously assuring that the learning objectives have been met. I am a strong believer in that a child should learn to learn, not because they have to, and should learn in the best way for them. Facilitating a love for learning fosters a solid basis for a fun and successful education.
Additionally, I take pride in my organizational and planning skills, and am able to provide assistance in these areas as well. While I took, and excelled in, Honors and A.P. Math, Spanish, Science, and English classes in high school, I favor Math and English, though I am comfortable in any of the previously mentioned subjects.
I looking forward to working with you and helping your child reach their full academic potential!
