Benjamin
Hello! I am a Math and Economics teacher with over ten years of experience classroom teaching in top schools and private tutoring (both in-person and remotely). I love to share my excitement and passion for math with others, and I enjoy helping students overcome their challenges with math and boosting their confidence as they tackle new challenges.
The students with whom I have worked say that I have a limitless enthusiasm and positivity, and that I make math fun while helping them learn. I have tutored over 25 students in my career, and whether a student was struggling to keep up, bored in class and in need of enrichment and challenge, and everything in between, I have worked with all kind of students and have always been able to help them increase their understanding, boost their grades, and come away with a new appreciation for and enjoyment of math.
My tutoring sessions are fun, engaging, and individually tailored to each student each time – my mastery of the math concepts allows me to quickly adapt and modify a tutoring session in-the-moment so that I can best support each students’ learning. Additionally, I am comfortable making use of an assortment of education technology tools to enhance my lessons, give students new and more exciting ways to engage with math, and to effectively do remote tutoring when necessary.
When I’m not teaching, I enjoy being in the outdoors at every opportunity. Whether it’s hiking, biking, canoeing, surfing, snowboarding, or playing Spikeball on the beach, I like to spend my weekends outside and with friends. I also enjoy cooking, fitness, and traveling!
Most recently, I was the math department chair at the Friends Seminary School in New York City, where I helped teachers increase their comfort with educational technology to help them differentiate their instruction and make math classes more engaging. With regard to my degrees and test scores, I would be happy to share a bit of information:
