James
I obtained a Ph.D. in Organic/Medicinal Chemistry from The Scripps Research Institute in 2018 and a B.S. in Chemistry from Grove City College in 2013. During my time as both a graduate and undergraduate student I taught high school, undergraduate, and graduate students in the subjects of high school chemistry, general chemistry, organic chemistry, and medicinal chemistry. I have taught students both individually and in groups, and attempt to meet students where they are and teach to their learning style and interests.
I have extensive experience discussing scientific ideas and topics and making them accessible to diverse audiences. I have organized and participated in a variety of local outreach or communication events with audiences ranging from 5-year-old children to aging Floridian “snowbirds.” These experience have helped to explain difficult concepts to any individual, which has aided in my ability to tutor and engage with students.
On a personal note, I grew up in the Philadelphia area which by default makes me an avid Philadelphia Eagles fan. I also enjoy singing and board games in my spare time.
