My name is Jonathan and I graduated from the University of Southern California (USC) with a BS in Electrical Engineering. I am really looking forward to helping you with your needs! I know from experience the difference a great teacher can make in my success and enjoyment of a class. The professors and teaching assistants that made a positive difference were engaging, patient, and willing to go the extra mile to make sure I asked any questions for clarification. Though I have had experience tutoring on/off since I was in middle school, I am now taking it up as a more serious commitment and using these experiences to influence my teaching method to be the most effective tutor possible!

Since I was in middle school I tutored common core K-12 math classes such as Pre-calc, Algebra 1, Algebra 2, Trigonometry, and Geometry for my neighbor’s kids. They always trusted me because I had excellent academic records. I would typically meet them after school and help them through their homework, and for tests, I would help them study and go over specific topics they had more questions in. All of my students improved their C averages to B+/A level averages in these math classes.

In High School and during my vacations from college I also tutored junior/ senior high school students for a few months for SAT/ ACT test preparation, and for college-level classes such as Calculus. Most recently I tutored a college student in Calculus I for a few days to prepare for her final test. After around 15 hours with me, she was able to earn an A on her final exam! I am also currently tutoring a student in college Algebra whom has been consistently doing well on her quizzes and after a 4 hour review session a few days ago, she also earned an A grade on her first test of the semester.

Some clients have been with me for a few months, such as the college students, some have been just for test prep, and my neighbor’s kids and family friends were recurring yearly.

I have the most experience in Common Core math, Algebra 1/2, and Calculus 1/2 because those are the topics that most of my past clients have requested help in. However, I am passionate about and have subject expertise in Common Core, Pre-calc, Algebra 1/ 2, Trigonometry, Geometry, Linear Algebra, Calculus 1/ 2/ 3, Differential Equations, AP Physics, AP Chemistry, Physics 1/2/3, AP Biology & SAT/ACT/SSAT Math. My engineering background makes me an expert in those subjects in particular. Apart from that, I am also adept in reading comprehension, vocabulary, and English/ Spanish language but I haven’t had many clients in these areas.
