“Always a student. Always ready to learn, Always look for improvement” is a mantra I have created that has not only ensured my academic successes but of the hundreds of students I have served over the past 9 years as an educator.
Students and employers describe me as:
1) Enthusiastic – I am a HUGE math/science geek! So I am always excited to teach new topics and witness the “AHA!” moments!
2) Insightful – In my teaching philosophy, it is important to not only teach important concepts but also to give historic and practical contexts to reinforce a “planting the seed” type learning.
3) Warm – When working in the mentor-pupil type of environment, it is extremely important to gain a human-human type of trust. I always ensure that each of my students and I establish a unique mentor-pupil relationship. This always begins with a warm-hearted approach and ends with an effective tutoring session!
I have spent a combined 9 years teaching and tutoring with Migrant Ed, AmeriCorps, Stony Point Academy, Team Academics, Study Smart Tutors, and now Tutor Me Education. During Fall 2019, most of my work has been one-on-on private tutoring and I successfully tutored nine high schoolers, two middle schoolers, two elementary students, and one undergraduate. In addition, I have taught six sessions of SAT prep to a classroom of high school students.
I am trained in SAT/ACT prep and have experience tutoring the SAT, ACT, SSAT, and ISEE. Also, I passed the CBEST, so I am familiar with the CBEST. I am also trained in executive functioning, which includes helping students plan for due dates, managing calendars for students, helping students craft emails to teachers, etc.
I have taken the general GRE and Math Subject GRE as well.

Hobbies
I love sports! I used to play year-round travel soccer growing up, as well as for my high school JV and Varsity teams. I also played JV and Varsity basketball in high school and pick up football throughout my adolescence. My teams: NBA: Warriors, Football: 49ers, Soccer: Chivas de Guadalajara and Barcelona! I also love to dance. I breakdance competitively at a local level. I also like to dance bachata a little bit. Lastly, I love playing chess. I just recently took on chess and it is extremely exciting and challenging. I try to study chess when I can.
