Karen
I’ve tutored since I was in college in a variety of subjects and taught in California public schools from Pre-school to High School. My students have come from a variety of backgrounds and education levels. I strongly believe in lifelong learning and instill this in my students.
I am a patient, motivated and dedicated teacher. I get to know each of my students to discover their strengths and preferences. Utilizing their strengths helps give me the ability improve areas where they struggle. I enjoy helping students discover new interests and talents.
Getting a “D” in Spelling in the fourth grade was a life-changing event for me! Instead of giving up, I buckled down and studied more. Now I am an excellent speller. My wide variety of experience, in both education and life, gives me a unique perspective and opportunity to engage students and motivate them to excel.
Test scores are not the only method to measure a student’s strengths and abilities. But having taken the PSAT, US History AP, CBEST, MSAT and CTEL, I have a lot of experience preparing for standardized tests.
