Kelsey
Hello! My name is Kelsey, and I’m a fourth year student at UCLA majoring in Physiological Sciences. I will be attending Yale School of Nursing next fall for their Acute Care Nurse Practitioner program. At UCLA, I enjoy volunteering with the Special Olympics and playing intramural sports with friends. Besides my extracurricular activities, I have loved my time in lectures, discussion, and office hours at this institution. I love learning and teaching, especially in the sciences, and I am so excited to help other students achieve their academic goals.
I have experience as a learning assistant for students at UCLA in physics courses, and my students often expressed that my method of explaining the course material helped them better grasp the concepts presented in lecture. I have also tutored friends in high school for math and chemistry as needed. While I am a STEM major, I also have a passion for writing. I enjoy editing essays and improving my work until every word perfectly expresses my intended message. I would love to assist anyone seeking to do the same.
I have plenty of experience with SAT prep, GRE prep, and college admissions essays. For undergraduate education, I was accepted to UCLA, UCBerkeley, USC, Northwestern University, and Washington University. For graduate school, I was accepted to Yale University, John’s Hopkins University, Georgetown University, and Case Western Reserve University. I have written endless application essays, and I believe I understand the keys to writing an essay that will catch the attention of admissions officers. In high school, I attended three years of SAT prep courses and obtained a 2170 on the SAT and a 690 on the Math Subject Test. For my GRE, I self-prepared for a month due to a busy school and work schedule and scored a 164 on Verbal, 162 on Quantitative, and 5.0 on writing. I can help you create an effective approach to standardized testing and how you can achieve the scores you want to submit to your target schools!
Lastly, I have plenty of experience working with individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. As I stated previously, I am a volunteer with the Special Olympics at UCLA, and I am also a basketball coach for the Unified Intramural Sports league which brings together UCLA students and athletes with disabilities on the same sports teams. While I do not have experience as an academic tutor for students with disabilities, I have the interpersonal skills to work with others to help them understand how to engage with their current challenges and achieve their intended purposes. I believe this can translate over to an academic setting, and I will be so happy and excited to tutor students with any disability
I look forward to working with you to help you grow both academically and personally as you pursue your goals!
